Nashville
Chapter of SABR Started

and I have started a Nashville area chapter of the Society
of American Baseball Research (SABR).
The chapter
organization will take place at our first meeting in
January. More specifics will be given soon.

Kitty League Research

Currently I am
compiling box scores for the 1922
season, which to my knowledge has no final or complete
statistics. It should take six to eight months to finish this project.
Unfortunately, copies cost 25
cents each where I do my research and there will be a lot of
box scores to copy!

The purpose of this site is to honor the
players, managers, teams, and fans of the Kitty League,
perhaps the most colorful Class D league in professional
baseball.
The Kitty League was the nickname given to
the Kentucky-Illinois-Tennessee League. (When
Vincennes had a team, it was also referred to as the
Kentucky-Indiana-Tennessee League; since Cairo, Illinois was
in the circuit for a longer duration, I refer to it as the latter.)
The Kitty League brought the National
Pastime to fans in Western and Central Kentucky, Southern
Illinois and Indiana, Southeast Missouri, and West and
Middle Tennessee for thirty years between 1903 and 1955. It
produced many young players who enjoyed solid major league
careers and gave veterans the opportunity to keep playing
the game they loved.
This site is also a way to contact former
players and family members who might have more information
or photos they'd like to share. My goal is to write a
complete history of the Kitty League based on research
taken from period newspapers, baseball publications, and
most importantly the memories of the players and fans who
were there.
