I'm Kevin McCann, the webmaster of the Kitty
League site.
A native of Jackson, Tennessee, I became
interested in the history of the Jackson Generals and minor league
baseball in my hometown. The result was a book entitled Jackson Diamonds:
Professional Baseball in Jackson, Tennessee, which I self-published in
1999.
This led me to research not only the
Jackson Generals, but all the other Kitty League teams as well. This
website is the result of almost ten years worth of microfilm reading and
interviews with former players, managers, and fans.
I've had the honor of meeting players from
different teams as well as their families at two reunions I organized in
2003 and 2005. It's been my experience that one can only learn so much
from books and newspapers; actually listening to the memories of the men
who played ball makes it all come to life over fifty years after the Kitty
League folded in 1955.
It's my goal to eventually complete a book
about the Kitty League.
Please share your memories of the Kitty
League, whether you were a player or a fan or if you have a family member
who played in the league. I would be interested in copies of newspaper
clippings or photographs for my research.
If you experience any "technical
difficulties" with the site, please let me know.
You
may contact me through e-mail here.
I look forward to hearing from you!
